Commercial Video Copycat

I rarely watch TV but I came across a commercial that really catch my attention. Not because it was unique, good or something but I felt a deja vu. I saw this similar commercial few years ago by one of Japanese famous idol and singer, Aya Matsuura.

It was a commercial of a chocolate snack from a famous food manufacturer with an eagle logo. Having an idea from others work is ok but reproducing almost exactly down to mimic and song level is a copycat. Let you see for yourself whether you ever saw this copycat commercial on Indonesian local tv or not.

George Carlin on Religion

George Carlin is most known for his dark joke as a stand up comedian. This particular show is about religion from HBO special “You Are All Diseased”, recorded live at New York City’s Beacon Theater on February 6, 1999. Although he is mocking about a specific religion but I can’t deny what he was saying though.

Creative Ads

Among many ads, Apple’s Get a Mac campaign ads are among my favorites. It’s simple, Mac style clean white background. Lately they just launch new ad titled “Bean Counter”, it told us about how “PC” spend the money for ads and fixing Vista bugs. The ending is hilarious. You got to watch this on Get a Mac ads page or download it.

Watching Indonesian TV Channel Online

Recently Indoweb.tv launched Streaming TV from Indonesian local TV stations. Their TV channels are pretty complete. Those channels are Indosiar, RCTI, SCTV, TVOne, TransTV, Trans7, DAAI, ANTV, TPI, TVRI, CTV, GlobalTV and MetroTV.

To watch these steaming TV channels at least you must have 384kbps. Unfortunately this service is only available for Indonesian. My friend tried to access this service from taiwan with no luck, blocked. I think it’s about the expensive international bandwidth or licenses of the TV shows.

The video quality is average. Their TV channel feed I believe not from digital source but from regular antenna.

Update on Nov 9, 2008: It turns out the connection from other countries are open now. Tested from Taipei.

Update on Dec 20, 2008: This site is closed down after exposed to the TVs management. They said the TV broadcast is copyrighted, re-broadcast it to the web would violate the copyright.

When Indian movie meets creative subtitler

This is a clip from an Indian movie by three in one choreographer/actor/director Prabhu Deva. An internet youtube user buffalax render the subtitle into the clip but in ‘creative’ (read: wacky) ways.

The subtitles enhance the ‘fun’ factor 10-folds. Check it out, no regret involved.

Watching Olympic Games in Indonesia

We know that Olympic Games are aired by particular TV broadcaster, unfortunately in Indonesia the TV broadcaster that have the honor is TVRI. TVRI is well known for it’s lame content since it’s government owned.

Many complaints for the limited Olympic event that aired by TVRI. Luckily few days ago I heard in a radio about Aura Aora TV.

This cable TV offer 4 channels to cover Olympic events just for 75K Rupiah. They said they cover 8 major cities in Indonesia. Strange enough I never heard this cable tv before. Some said it’s quite new. I think it’s a little bit late to penetrate the market with all these olympic games started already. If they went to the public faster, they sure hit big.
